Chemistry Homework Help

Chemistry is the science of matters and is used to study the compositions of substances, their properties and reactions with each another. On the basis of its definition it seems similar to Physics, but it differs physics as it is specialized and concerned with compositions, chemical behavior, structure and properties of elements (matter) and their changes during chemical reactions while physics is a study of motion of matters instead of their fundamental properties. Chemistry is a physical sciences and covers almost each and everything of atoms, molecules, crystals and other possible forms and natures of elements whether in isolation or in combination.

The term chemistry is derived from the Arabic word alchemy (which was also originated from the word Chemi or Kimi) which means to research practices of elements of chemistry, metallurgy, philosophy, astrology, astronomy and medicines and later it become chemistry by adding the suffix "–ry". Modern chemistry is invented and developed by Antoine Lavoisier (1743-1794) and he is also known as Father of Chemistry. He translated literature from Arabic languages and enriched it with his own experiments and discoveries. As chemistry is a study of elements or matter, it consists its research work on basic properties of matter like Atom, Molecule, Element, Compound, Compositions and their fundamental characteristics like their weight, ion charge, chemical behavior, molecular structure and reactions with other matters.

Traditional chemistry has been divided in two disciplines— Inorganic chemistry (which studies the inorganic matter) and organic chemistry (study of organic elements or carbon based elements. But now it has been developed some more specialized branches of chemistry like biochemistry, physical chemistry and neurochemistry. All of these streams similar in their fundaments but differ in elemental studies of elements. Like other branches of natural sciences chemistry is also interconnected with other sciences and exchanges information and knowledge with them in order to do research work properly. It is an essential part of biology, geology, astronomy, physics and engineering.

Chemistry is divided into several major sub-disciplines like Analytical chemistry, Biochemistry, Inorganic chemistry, Materials chemistry, Neurochemistry, Nuclear chemistry, Organic chemistry, Physical chemistry, Theoretical chemistry. In addition to these major sub-branches has also their own sub-disciplines to study the chemistry in a broad sense and meaning like agrochemistry, astrochemistry, atmospheric chemistry, bio-molecular chemistry, chemical engineering, chemical biology, chemo-informatics, cosmochemistry, electrochemistry, environmental chemistry, femtochemistry, flavor chemistry, flow chemistry, geochemistry, green chemistry, histochemistry, history of chemistry, hydrogenation chemistry, immunochemistry, marine chemistry, materials science, mathematical chemistry, mechanochemistry, medicinal chemistry, molecular biology, molecular mechanics, nanotechnology, natural product chemistry, oenology, organometallic chemistry, petrochemistry, pharmacology, photochemistry, physical organic chemistry, phytochemistry, polymer chemistry, quantum chemistry, radiochemistry, solid-state chemistry, sonochemistry, stereochemistry, supramolecular chemistry, surface chemistry, synthetic chemistry, thermochemistry and so on.
